Clash Royale Rare Card Rankings

Rare cards are the average cards in Clash Royale and today we are going to rank the best rare cards in Clash Royale 1-21! I’ve done this post before where there were only 16 rare cards which you can view here. Lets start the new 2017 rankings!

Clash Royale Ranking the Rare Cards

How the Rare Cards are Ranked

When ranking these cards we put a lot of thought and effort into what makes the best rare card the best. We are considering a variety of different ways to rank which are order in importance as follows:

  1. Versatility
  2. Cost/Damage Ratio (is the card worth it?)
  3. Strength on defense and offense

So now that you know what we are judging on, lets go ahead and get into the rankings, starting with number 21!

Rare Card Rankings

#21- Bomb Tower

Clash Royale Bomb Tower

There shouldn’t really be a big surprise that the bomb tower comes in at last in our rare card rankings. The bomb tower is quite literally never used past Arena 5, which means that it is pretty much awful. Why use the bomb tower when you can get better value for 5 elixir with the inferno tower?

#20- Heal

Heal Clash Royale

The heal spell was one of the most hyped up cards in Clash Royale history, but it didn’t really live up to expectations. While the heal can work exactly as planned in some scenarios, for the most part it is absolutely useless since it doesn’t offer enough healing power. Make it stronger and more expensive and you have a real good card on your hands!

#19- Goblin Hut

Goblin Hut Clash Royale

Who else remembers the days of the spawners at the beginning of Clash Royale? Nowadays, spawners aren’t really great especially with rocket and lightning being two very popular cards. The goblin hut can get you some slow chip damage over time, but really it is often overshadowed by the cheaper and more dangerous furnace.

#18- Barbarian Hut

Clash Royale Barbarian Hut

The barbarian hut honestly isn’t THAT bad, the rare cards as a whole are just really good. For 7 elixir, you get a stream of barbarians that your opponent can’t ignore without suffering huge damage on their tower. Also, when played in the middle, the barbarian hut offers a ton of defensive value by pulling tanks.

#17- Dart Goblin

Dart Goblin Clash Royale

Again, the dart goblin is a pretty good card; great for getting chip damage and defending against air decks but the other rare cards overshadow it! The dart goblin does have its downfalls like being extremely weak and not doing a ton of damage, but its range and shooting time make up for the shortcomings.

#16- Three Musketeers

Three Musketeers Clash Royale

Risk often breeds rewards! Nothing could be more true than about the three musketeers, which are one of the riskiest but most dangerous cards within Clash Royale. Unfortunately, the 3 muskies can be taken out super easy with a lightning or a fireball, but if split, your opponent must defend both sides usually guarenteeing you damage. This is a hard card to learn but deadly once learned.

#15- Battle Ram

Battle Ram Clash Royale

A lot of players might put the battle ram higher, maybe within the top 10, but to me the battle ram just isn’t that great of a card. Of course, if you can make contact on the tower with the ram, it proves to be invaluable. However, most of the time it is very easy to shut down the battle ram with a simple skeleton army or tombstone.

#14- Tombstone

Tombstone Clash Royale

Speaking of the tombstone, here it is at the 14 slot. The tombstone is just a very average to good card, giving good value out of 3 elixir, but not being strong enough to be seen in every deck. The tombstone is actually better against cards that don’t target defenses since they will be distracted by the skeletons that the tombstone spawns when destroyed.

#13- Ice Golem

Ice Golem Clash Royale

A few months ago, the ice golem would probably be ranked within the top 5 of this list, but it still comes in at a very strong midway point. The ice golem received a huge nerf, not making it as effective for destroying and slowing units. However, the ice golem still offers good distracting value, plus it is handy if you need a quick tank.

#12- Elixir Pump

Elixir Collector Clash Royale

No card has ever seen as much change in Clash Royale as the elixir pump. At the beginning, the elixir pump would have ranked one of the rare cards, hands down. Then after a big change, it fell out of use. However, now it is back up, giving you a good flow of elixir. The only things you have to watch out for are rockets, lightning spells, and miners!

#11- Mini-P.E.K.K.A.

Mini-Pekka Clash of Clans

Personally, the mini-P.E.K.K.A. is one of my favorite cards in Clash Royale, but it comes with some major flaws. If you can get the mini-P.E.K.K.A. to the tower, it can deal huge damage, but like its older sister, it is way too easily distracted. However, if you have zap or log at the ready, you can find the mini-P.E.K.K.A. to be devastating for your opponent.

#10- Valkyrie

Valkyrie Clash Royale

Out of any rare cards, the valkyrie has been on the rise the most lately, coming to power over the popularity of spam units like the goblin gang and skeleton army. She is deadly in front of elixir barbarians, giving a ton of HP and damage for only 4 elixir. Also the valkyrie is a great defensive unit since she can’t be “spelled” down at all.

#9- Rocket

Rocket Clash Royale

Being the most damage dealing spell in Clash Royale, its only fitting that the rocket comes in the top 10 on the rares ranking list! The rocket does incomprehensible damage onto the tower, as well as usually taking out most troops. If played right, the rocket can offer a big elixir trade, as well as giving you a big chip off the tower.

#8- Mega Minion

Mega Minion Clash Royale

The mega minion is great. It is just a great card. Being one of the tankiest cards for 3 elixir, it can help support LavaLoonion or golem pushes big time. You aren’t able to fireball the mega minion down which also makes it great for defense against any units. This is one of the best support cards in Clash Royale, no questions asked.

#7- Wizard

Wizard Clash Royale

The wizard is one of the cards on the rise within Clash Royale. Once his range got buffed, it became really popular to pop him behind a tank, since most splash damage cards couldn’t hit both. The wizard does a lot of damage, being able to one shot minions, making sure that you get minimum damage to your tank.

#6- Inferno Tower

Clash Royale Inferno Tower

The inferno tower is most likely the best defense in Clash Royale, able to take out entire pushes without even moving! Personally, I bring the inferno tower within every deck, just because it is so reliable to have to take down big beatdown pushes. Even if you use it to defend a solo hog, you still only lose 1 elixir, not too bad of a trade.

#5- Giant

Giant Clash Royale

This is one of the most popular tanks in the game, often paired with the splash damage units executioner and wizard to fire up a big push. The best thing about the giant is that it does a ton of damage for each hit on the tower/defense. Also it has a ton of health, so when paired with support units it can do some serious work on the tower!

#4- Fireball

Fireball Clash Royale

The fireball is undeniably one of the best spells in Clash Royale, giving good value for 4 elixir that can take out wizard/musketeer/e-wiz if overleveled. It also does some great damage on the tower if you can manage to hit it as well. One of the fireball’s best qualities is the death ball, where it kills 4+ units at once that are grouped up!

#3- Musketeer

Musketeer Clash Royale

Right now in Clash Royale, the musketeer is my favorite non-legendary card. The reason why the musketeer has so much success is because she is SO versatile. The musketeer can take down virtually every troop in Clash Royale with the help of the arena tower. She is also a force on offensive, being one of the best support units for any push.

#2- Furnace

Furnace Clash Royale

Honestly, I hate the furnace with a burning passion. It is just way too powerful for the 4 elixir it costs, especially when it is overleveled. It spawns two fire spirits, which one will hit the tower, doing a good amount of damage. Also, while the furnace is up and running, it is nearly impossible to have big golem pushes, since everything gets splashed… needs a nerf!

#1- Hog Rider

Hog Rider Clash Royale

The hog rider is just untouchable within Clash Royale. It is so strong (obviously, since it is the #1 rare card), but not too strong that every player considered him OP. Hog decks are some of the most popular decks in Clash Royale, since the hog rider pairs well with basically every card in the game. One of the top two tanks in Clash Royale for sure!

So that is going to wrap it up for our rare card rankings for June of 2017! Stay tuned soon to see our epic and legendary card rankings soon. Thanks for reading and comment below what you think of the rankings!

  2. The best rare cards are no doubt inferno tower, hog rider, fireball and rocket. Inferno tower, fireball and hog rider is obviously, but why I think rocket is one of the best rare cards is because it’s damage made it very valuable, great at bait decks, amazing at both offence and defence, and the lightning nerf made it even better. (Unless you’re rocket skills are as bad as chief pat)

  3. Right now the worst rare cards are no doubt heal, probably Barbarian Hut, Bomb Tower and Tombstone . Heal is seriously complete garbage, Barb Hut is not bad, but it’s just too expensive, tombstone and bomb tower just got outshined badly by inferno tower

  5. You said that battle ram can be overwhelmed by Larry army and tombstone right? But considering Zap and Log are popular, it’ll be easily anti countered

  7. The bomb tower, before it’s major nerf, was actually quite good. Now it isn’t that good anymore, but it is still the bane of all spawner decks.

  9. I think hog rider doesn’t deserve to be 1st place, I think giant is a much better option as it can eat up more damage for only 1 more elixir, and he’s slower so it’s easier to support
