Clash Royale Balance Changes Update 2/12/18

New balance changes are already here in Clash Royale, bringing nerfs to the mega knight and knight! They also introduced a new troop called the magic archer, which will be coming in this balancing update. Here’s the February balance changes for Clash Royale!

As always, nerfs will be listed in red, while buffs are in blue.

  • Mega Knight: Spawn and Jump Damage -25%; Deployment radius reduced (deployment won’t hit beyond bridge and river)
  • Skeleton Barrel: Skeleton count 8 → 6
  • Knight: Hitpoints -6%
  • Inferno Dragon: Switches between targets slower
  • Valkyrie: Hit Speed 1.5sec → 1.4sec
  • Bandit: Minimum Dash Range 4 → 3.5
  • Dark Prince: Hit Speed 1.4sec → 1.3sec; Hitpoints +5%
  • Magic Archer: Preparing for the Arena…

Balance Changes Nerfs

The first thing that hits me about these balance changes is the nerf to the two knights. I’ve been saying for a while that the mega knight spawn and jump damage is what needs to be fixed, so he will be a lot easier to deal with now. The knight also get another nerf to its health, which is great since it has still been too strong.

I don’t really think the skeleton barrel needed a nerf, but it was overused and reducing the number of skeletons should make it less popular. Of course, we also see a nerf to the inferno dragon, which has long been used since the mega knight came out. I love the idea of not nerfing the damage but nerfing the switch between targets.

Balance Changes Buffs

There were only three cards buffed in this update, but three cards that really needed it. Glad to see the dark prince getting another buff in the form of hit speed and HP as this should cement him into the meta. Also the valkyrie was given some attention with a small hit speed buff. Finally, the bandit was nerfed by now being able to dash towards closer objects. Instead of being 4 tiles away to dash, she now only has to be 3.5!

Personally, I think these are amazing balance changes! Clash Royale really addressed the cards that were being used too often. Also, its amazing to see a new card joining us in the arena, even if it is a legendary card (more on him soon). Thanks for reading and comment below your impressions of this balancing update!

  9. I was actually surprised to see the Dark Prince being buffed yet again! He’s definitely viable right now, but double prince will definitely return

      • Even though i’m a Dark Prince user, I’m starting to worry he’s buffed too much. Almost as worried as seeing the Witch being buffed at first in June 2017. Fortunately Witch still isn’t strong. But Dark Prince could potentially became straight up OP because he’s pretty decent already .
