It is time for a new legendary card rankings for all the legendary cards in Clash Royale! We will be having a power ranking, 15-1, of the legendary cards in Clash Royale as of May 2018. As many of you know, I have done this ranking before, back in May, with the same 15 cards. The top 5 cards then, in order, were log, inferno dragon, miner, electro-wizard, and night witch. Let’s see how much those rankings were shaken up over the past couple balance changes and updates!
You can view the old ranking here: https://clashfordummies.com/2018/05/31/clash-royale-legendary-card-rankings-may-2018/
How the Legendary Cards are Ranked
When ranking these cards we put a lot of thought and effort into what makes the best legendary card the best. We are considering a variety of different ways to rank which are order in importance as follows:
- Versatility
- Cost/Damage Ratio (is the card worth it?)
- Strength on defense and offense
So now that you know what we are judging on, lets go ahead and get into the rankings, starting with number 15!
Note: Text color indicates which way the card is trending in regard to the May rankings.
Legendary Card Rankings
#15- Sparky
It seems like it has been forever ago since sparky was not ranked last in the legendary card power rankings. Unfortunately, it just seems like sparky can’t gain any traction whatsoever and seems destined to stay at the bottom. Personally, I think that sparky needs to be saved by a complete rework, since nothing else seems to be helping!
#14- Lava Hound
It’s not that the lava hound is that bad, it just that the other legendary cards are so much better. While the lava hound is certainly a bottom half win condition card, it does synergize well with the balloon, which is one of the best offensive cards in Clash Royale. If current trends continue, expect the lava hound to make some gains in the next rankings.
#13- Ice Wizard
It is kind of sad to see one of the original two legendary cards sitting at the #13 ranking, but unfortunately, there’s not enough firepower with the ice wizard to rank him any higher. I love the ice wizard as a card, but I think that he certainly needs a buff in order to compete with other air-shooting support units and utilize the freeze better.
#12- Magic Archer
In these legendary rankings, the magic archer is going to be the biggest drop, falling down from #8. Similarly to the ice wizard, the magic archer is outclassed right now by rare cards like the wizard, musketeer, and zappies. Without a doubt, the magic archer remains one of the most skillful cards to use, and I hope that translates into his success soon!
#11- Princess
While it certainly seems like range is becoming more and more important in Clash Royale, the princess isn’t really benefitting. She can still be a pretty great card to slot into log bait and hog cycle decks, but she needs a little bit more power to really impact the game. Still, the princess is a one-in-a-kind card that there isn’t a real alternative to.
#10- Lumberjack
The lumberjack is definitely rising up a bit with a return of golem beatdown into the Clash Royale meta. He is an amazing counterpush card that you can base a whole bunch of chip damage around. Leading the golem into charge requires a lot of strength, but the lumberjack delivers, with his rage spell being the real winner for this card.
#9- Graveyard
Very recently, the graveyard has been on the rise, doing well with the bowler and baby dragon. It is going to be one of our biggest risers, jumping up 5 spots to crack into the top 10 legendary cards. It’s been a while since graveyard has squarely been in the meta, but we could definitely be seeing a return of the splashyard deck to the top of Clash Royale!
#8- Bandit
Rounding out the bottom half of the legendary cards in the bandit, which is definitely at a decent spot right now. Really skilled players are able to utilize the bandit to great success, getting the dash on as many times as possible. For only 3 elixir, the bandit can really give you some insane value, but you’ll need to know how to use her.
#7- Electro-Wizard
At his lowest ranking ever in the legendary card rankings, the electro-wizard is going to sit right at our #7 spot. As I have said before with the ice wizard and magic archer, the electro-wizard is being outclassed, ESPECIALLY with the astronomical rise of the zappies. Zappies are replacing the e-wiz in the meta, which is hurting his overall rank.
#6- Night Witch
Even with the golem decks really dominating right now, the night witch is going to move down. This card is one of the best possible support cards behind the golem, spawning bats to take down air units, while offering a sharp stick on the ground. With a bit more defensive power, the night witch could be one of the best cards in Clash Royale.
#5- Royal Ghost
The royal ghost made big moves in these rankings, shooting up 5 spots from #10 to break into the top 5. Right now, the royal ghost is such a threat on offensive, requiring an answer or else giving up many hundreds of hitpoints onto your tower. The versatility of the royal ghost is what really makes him great, allowing him to fit into almost any deck.
#4- Mega Knight
As recently as a few weeks ago, the mega knight certainly would have ranked towards the bottom of the legendary cards. However, royal hogs got their big buff, which made that certain mega knight royal hogs deck SHOOT up to be one of the best decks in the game. The mega knight has felt the surge, now being one of the top tanks again.
#3- Inferno Dragon
Does anyone even remember with the inferno dragon was right there with sparky as one of the worst legendary cards in Clash Royale. Now, the inferno dragon is consistently one of the best, providing an easy way to take down tank cards while scaring your opponent with a possible counterpush with a ton of damage from that fiery beam!
#2- Miner
It’s going to be tough for the miner to ever go away, just because he offers such an unique skill set. The miner has the potential for huge positive elixir trades by taking out elixir collectors and other weak, expensive cards. He also works amazingly as a secondary tank, good enough for a quick play that sometimes leads to the tower falling.
#1- Log
Finally, our number one legendary card for the 4th straight time is going to be the log. You simply can’t beat the power of the log, having an entire deck archetype meant to bait out this card. Consistency is key for the log, with it always ranking in the top 5 cards for usage. With more bait cards always being added, the log will keep being better!
So that is going to wrap it up for our legendary card rankings for August of 2018! Stay tuned soon to see how all of our rankings change in a couple months. Thanks for reading and comment below what you think of the rankings!

I feel like Bandit is really a top 5 legendary right now, mostly due to the nerf to the Royal Ghost which really helps her to do even better
Besides, she does amazing in Battle Ram and 3 Musketeers deck, which are both very popular right now.
LikeLike
Agreed, she can just fit in so well in so many decks

Do you think Royal Ghost is finally balanced?
LikeLike
It is still one of the best legendaries, but definitely in a better spot
LikeLike
Magic Archer isn’t just the worst legendary, it’s arguably one of the top 10 worst cards right now
LikeLike
Hopefully they change it back in the December balance changes
LikeLike
They won’t……. Magic Archer will remain unchanged………

Where’s the epic and legendary card rankings?
LikeLike
Wow, the Electro Dragon really made Inferno Dragon finally balanced
LikeLike
My ranking based on how much I like them
15. Lumberjack (really dull as a legendary)
14. Magic Archer (that nerf made him absolutely unusable, can’t like him anymore for that)
13. Graveyard
12. Electro Wizard
11. Inferno Dragon (I’m fine on using him but I don’t like facing him at all)
10. Sparky
9. Princess (sorry, I know she’s your favourite legendary)
8. Lava Hound
7. Night Witch
6. Log
5. Bandit
4. Royal Ghost (thank god for the nerf, still like him as a legendary, he’s just too strong before)
3. Mega Knight
2. Miner (he’s been my favourite for a long time)
1. Ice Wizard (love him mechanics)
LikeLike
Obviously princess is still my #1, but #2 is between ice wizard and miner. My least favorite is probably the lumberjack as well.
LikeLike
You gotta be honest: Miner is so OP now
LikeLike
Yep, definitely towards the top of all cards!

After years, The Log has finally fallen, right now, it’s use and win rate has shown that Barbarian Barrel has taken over it

I know, absolutely crazy how powerful the barbarian barrel is now

One of the comments I saw
“Congratulations Sparky, you can finally hand over your worst legendary spot to the Magic Archer”
LikeLike
My idea to make sparky better is to increase her health by 3% and make stun card won’t be able to reset her first attack
LikeLike
Might be a bit too strong; its tough to balance sparky perfectly
LikeLike
Lots of players are saying Magic Archer is becoming unusable, some people even said that its getting worse than Sparky
LikeLike
It is REALLY bad….
LikeLike
You know what, I think it’s true that Magic Archer is the absolute worst legendary right now. At least Sparky can be useful in lower arenas, while Magic Archer couldn’t even do well at anywhere after his nerf, in fact Sparky’s win rate is actually HIGHER than Magic Archer
LikeLike
I know, its actually crazy how much they killed the card
LikeLike
My least favourite legendary is the Lumberjack, just because as a legendary, he’s the dullest.
If you paid attention to how they work, you’ll notice Lumberjack is just a weaker version of Mini PEKKA, except the fact that he hits faster and his damage per swing is much lower, which is not impressive. Whereas the others are quite unique on its own, even Sparky is special on its own
LikeLike
You get the rage spell though. But I agree lumberjack isn’t one of my favorites
LikeLike
True, but without it he’s basically a weaker mini PEKKA, besides his rage can be wasted
LikeLike
Oh yeah for sure, gotta be sure to take advantage of it

My new legendary ranking
15. Sparky (the goblin giant + sparky is great, but Sparky still lacks a bit)
14. Magic Archer (the nerf really killed him)
13. Princess (really not as good as before)
12. Lumberjack (lacks special abilities as a legendary)
11. Graveyard (Cannon Cart nerf hurts it)
10. Night Witch (Still great, others seem to do a better job than Her)
9. Electro Wizard (Really, not as great as before)
8. Lava Hound (This one actually surprised me, i was not planning on putting it this high, but apparently Lavaloon is back)
7. Royal Ghost (thank god he got nerfed)
6. Bandit (mostly because of the Royal Ghost nerf indirectly buff her)
5. Inferno Dragon (Still excellent of course)
4. Mega Knight (The last change made him great again!)
3. Ice Wizard (That 1 slight change just made Ice Wizard so good right now)
2. The Log (still excellent, Barbarian Barrel is causing it to suffer a bit though)
1. Miner (He’s just OP)
LikeLike
E-dragon is shutting down the e-wiz

So apparently, we’ve went from the old OP night witch dominating, to a ultra versatile electro wizard being ashen everywhere, then the log maintained the top spot for an entire year until Royal Ghost is proven to be way too strong despite the brutal nerfs. Now, Miner is absolutely killing the meta
LikeLike
Despite the nerf for Royal Ghost, I don’t think Log can maintain the top spot anymore (which it has for an entire year), because based on the use and win rate………
Apparently Miner is the new royal ghost, he’s now the most popular card in grand challenge, with even more win rate than the log
LikeLike
They’re NERFING the Magic Archer?! NOOOOOO!!!!
LikeLike
Goblin Giant + Sparky = new meta?!

Not with the new electro-dragon… 😦
LikeLike
Yeah, clearly Royal Ghost needed a nerf, he has more use and win rate than the log right now
LikeLike
Hopefully in November we get that nerf

My new rank
15. Sparky
14. Lava Hound
13. Magic Archer
12. Princess
11. Lumberjack
10. Bandit
9. Graveyard
8. Mega Knight
7. E-Wiz
6. Night Witch
5. Inferno Dragon
4. Ice Wizard
3. Miner
2. Royal Ghost
1. Log
I have to say: this is by far the most stressful list I have to think. Apart from Log and Royal Ghost which are the obvious top 2, and Sparky being last (though I will say Sparky is improving), all of them are really close because of how unique they are.

Actually, I change my mind a bit. If you check the grand challenge in stats Royale, Lava Hound is currently having a massive comeback, and since Ice Wiz buff is confirmed……. I’ll just make another list next time

Ice wizard buff is going to be a huge change in the meta

According to the win rate, it looks like Royal Ghost might risk being nerfed for the 3rd time……

Right now, I don’t think we will see a nerf, but maybe down the road

As much as I hate to admit it, I think it’s true that Magic Archer is a bit weak as a legendary. He’s outclassed badly
LikeLike
My list
15. Sparky
14. Ice Wizard
13. Magic Archer (I REALLY HATE to say that since he’s my favourite legendary)
12. Lava Hound
11. Lumberjack
10. Princess
9. Bandit
8. Graveyard
7. E-Wiz
6. Mega Knight
5. Inferno Dragon (yeah let’s put him down a bit, he did get nerfed)
4. Night Witch
3. Royal Ghost
2. Miner
1. Log
LikeLike
Princess is my favorite and I’m sad to see her towards the bottom 😦
LikeLike
1. Log (Can chip, get rid of ground swarm and push back; you will literally always get a + elixir with the swarms!)
2. Bandit (there are so many ways to use the bandit: Some of my favorites are Putting pressure cards on lane A and putting bandit on side B and putting bandit diagonally to the tower if one tower is down; the dash is literally 90% guaranteed)
3. Miner (good tank and chiper)
4. Mega Knight (Spawn damage is great and is a massive threat)
5. Electro wizard (He basically resumes the troops attack every attack and he is great at bringing pekka to the middle)
6. Sparky (Very threatning card)
7.Rg (stats are mediocre mechanics are great)
8. MA (There are tile placements to chip tower when the is stuff in front and over time you get lota of damage)
9. Night witch (good defense, hard to deal with bahind tank; deck archetypes with her are limited)
10. Graveyard (Very deadly, the only problem is… poison and valkyries popularity. One of my favorite synergies woth GY is GY freeze)
11. Lumberjack (Good defense, Rage is somewhat useful but not the strongest card right now)
12. Lava hound (Dmg is a bit low a small dmg to the pups or LH would be so beneficial)
13. Princess (not enough health, too squishy; Even oponents without logs find a counter)
14. Inferno Dragon (The range nerf makes it impossible to lock on the tower or stay in range.)
15. Ice wizard (Not enough damage)
LikeLike
I have to strongly disagree with inferno dragon and sparky, since inferno dragon is undeniably one of the most used defensive cards, with a usage rate of 14.5% and a win rate of 60.1%. Sparky on the other hand has a usage rate of 3.4%.
LikeLike
What the heck is this ranking? The bandit should be at least 5 and the Sparky has gone up due to the buff.
LikeLike
What card would sparky have passed?!

I still remember back then Miner, Inferno Dragon, Mega Knight and Royal Ghost dominated the meta, it looks like they’re back at the top!

Most of all, remember the night witch???

Oh yeah! I completely forget about her, I used to hate her
She’s still pretty OP since Golem decks are dominating

She was crazy too OP when she first came out but they did a good job of fine-tuning her

And the cool thing is, those 4 are used in the same deck!
