Clash Royale Legendary Card Rankings (November 2018)

It is time for a new legendary card rankings for all the legendary cards in Clash Royale! We will be having a power ranking, 15-1, of the legendary cards in Clash Royale as of November 2018. As many of you know, I have done this ranking before, back in August, with the same 15 cards. The top 5 cards then, in order, were log, miner, inferno dragon, mega knight, and royal ghost. Let’s see how much those rankings were shaken up over the past couple balance changes and updates!

You can view the old ranking here: https://clashfordummies.com/2018/08/26/clash-royale-legendary-card-rankings-august-2018/

Clash Royale Ranking the Legendary Cards

How the Legendary Cards are Ranked

When ranking these cards we put a lot of thought and effort into what makes the best legendary card the best. We are considering a variety of different ways to rank which are order in importance as follows:

  1. Versatility
  2. Cost/Damage Ratio (is the card worth it?)
  3. Strength on defense and offense

So now that you know what we are judging on, lets go ahead and get into the rankings, starting with number 15!

Note: Text color indicates which way the card is trending in regard to the August rankings.

Legendary Card Rankings

#15- Magic Archer

Magic Archer Clash Royale

We all know the story… the November 2018 balance changes absolutely KILLED the magic archer and as a result, he is going to rank at the very bottom of our legendary card rankings. The speed at which the magic archer retargets is absolutely painful and immediately needs attention in order to get him back to the level he was originally at. No idea why this card was nerfed…

#14- Sparky

Clash Royale Sparky

Believe it or not, this is the ONLY time that sparky has not been ranked last in the legendary card rankings. Sparky is still one of the worst cards in Clash Royale, but shows how bad the magic archer is that it ranked below sparky. Every rankings I hope that some sort of buff or rework comes to sparky, but nothing ever happens. Maybe by February something will change.

#13- Graveyard

Clash Royale Graveyard Legendary Card

Honestly, graveyard is doing alright for where it is at right now. With the December 2018 balance changes and the freeze buff, graveyard is almost certain to see more playing time across arenas. Right now, graveyard is an underused option simply because it can be countered way too easily. When freeze is combined with it though, it should be MUCH harder to counter!

#12- Lava Hound

Clash Royale Legendary Card Lava Hound

LavaLoon decks are definitely making a comeback, so pay no attention to the lava hound’s still low ranking. Legendary cards are super competitive and basically all of them are great. The lava hound is definitely being used more and more in the current meta, especially with the introduction of the electro-dragon as yet another support card for the hound.

#11- Princess

Clash Royale Legendary Card Princess

One of the original two legendaries is still missing out on a top 10 ranking. A buff to the dart goblin in the November balance changes didn’t help the princess as that is her main replacement card. However, the princess is still the premiere long range attacker in Clash Royale, being able to splash down a ton of different cards in our bait heavy meta.

#10- Electro-Wizard

Clash Royale Electro Wizard Legendary Card

Obviously, the drop that the electro-wizard is seeing comes primarily from the introduction of the electro-dragon being the main zap reset card in the meta. With zappies and the electro-dragon now being in the game, the electro-wizard isn’t as special as he used to be. In the fireball bait meta we have though, the electro-wizard is definitely going to be towards the top of that.

#9- Inferno Dragon

Clash Royale Inferno Dragon Legendary Card

The inferno tower received a buff in the November balance changes, which led it to taking a little bit of the inferno dragon’s fire. Even without that buff, the inferno dragon has been falling, as the electro dragon adds another card that can reset it. In these legendary card rankings, inferno dragon is going to be the biggest faller, going down 6 spots to #9.

#8- Mega Knight

Mega Knight Clash Royale

Right now, PEKKA and golem are undeniably the best tank cards in the current meta. This has made the mega knight suffer a little bit, but he is still a decent option to lead your charges. With battle ram being one of the best cards in the game, its synergy with the mega knight is only going to lead the mega knight to rise up a little bit more.

#7- Night Witch

Night Witch Clash Royale

I feel like this is the point in Clash Royale where the witch and the night witch have been the most equal. Before, either the night witch or witch has been ridiculously better, but it has evened out more. The problem with the night witch is that she only really shines in golem decks; there needs to be another deck archetype for her to really become meta again.

#6- Royal GhostRoyal Ghost Clash Royale

Thankfully, the royal ghost received a nerf in the November balance changes, otherwise it would have been the #1 legendary card in Clash Royale. Still, the royal ghost is a solid option as a secondary tank card, being a tough counter without ending in a negative elixir trade. Right now, he is in a good place; hopefully no more buffs or nerfs come soon.

#5- Lumberjack

Clash Royale Legendary Card Lumberjack

Surprisingly, the lumberjack is actually going to crack into the top 5 for the first time since February in our rankings. The lumberjack has never been in a better place in the rankings, fitting in well with a variation of different decks, not just golem decks. The rage spell he drops makes delayed pushes key when using him and even the lumberjack itself can deal hundreds of HP of damage.

#4- Ice Wizard

Clash Royale Legendary Card Ice Wizard

In these rankings, the ice wizard is going to be the biggest riser, moving up 9 spots to the number 4 ranking. After being chosen for a buff in the October balance changes, the ice wizard has been one of the best support cards in Clash Royale, fitting in perfectly in many different decks, especially hog or royal giant decks. We will see what the December change to him does…

#3- Bandit

Bandit Clash Royale

The distance between the top 3 legendary cards in this ranking is so close that with even a little bit of change, any one of them could have been #1. Unfortunately, bandit is going to receive the #3 rankings, just being edged out. The bandit can fit into so many different decks, and for three elixir might be one of the most reliable ways to get a ton of damage for so cheap.

#2- Miner

Clash Royale Legendary Card Miner

Just barely missing out on the #1 spot in the miner, which has been consistently at the top of the legendary rankings for a long time. There is no doubt about it that the miner provides some insane value, giving a ton of chip damage for 3 elixir. This can be a perfect mini-tank too, which can protect some half dead troops and deal a thousand damage overall on the tower!

#1- Log

Log Clash Royale

And somehow, despite all of the changes in the legendary card rankings and the rise of the barbarian barrel as a replacement, the log maintains its number one ranking. Even with the barbarian barrel being as prevalent as it is, the log is still the #4 spell based on usage, behind barbarian and just barely behind fireball and zap. It was close but I give the edge to the log.

So that is going to wrap it up for our legendary card rankings for November of 2018! Stay tuned soon to see how all of our rankings change in a couple months. Thanks for reading and comment below what you think of the rankings!

  2. Right now, instead of being a bad card, Sparky is actually at pretty much the same state as Graveyard and Night Witch, where it’s very situational to use her, but use correctly, she can be amazing, her use rate is low, but her win rate is actually pretty good

  3. I did make a ranking, but here’s the actual ranking based in the use rate

    16. Magic Archer (seriously…… 1% use rate and 43% win rate) (really sad about it)
    15. Sparky (3% use rate and 53% win rate) (she’s actually better than MA?!)
    14. Graveyard (4% use rate and 46% win rate)
    13. Night Witch (5% use rate and 43% win rate)
    12. Princess (6% use rate and 40% win rate)
    11. Ice Wizard (6% use rate and 42% win rate) (really sad about this one)
    10. Mega Knight ( 7% use rate and 48% win rate)
    9. Royal Ghost (8% use rate and 47% win rate)
    8. Ram Rider (8% use rate and 55% win rate)
    7. Lava Hound (11% use rate and 54% win rate)
    6. Inferno Dragon (12% use rate and 52% win rate)
    5. Log (17% use rate and 41% win rate)
    4. E-Wiz (19% use rate and 49% win rate)
    3. Miner (20% use rate and 51% win rate)
    2. Lumberjack (21% use rate and 52% win rate)
    1. Bandit (31% use rate and 53% win rate)

  4. Slowly but surely, Ram Rider is catching up with the other legendary cards, it’s still on the weaker side, but people definitely slowly realise it’s pot!

  5. My new rank

    16. Sparky (still not good enough)
    15. Ram Rider (still too early to tell)
    14. Mega Knight (not enough damage)
    13. Night Witch (only good in Golem decks)
    12. Magic Archer (poor usage rate, still too hard to use)
    11. Princess
    10. Inferno Dragon
    9. Lava Hound
    8. Royal Ghost
    7. Ice Wizard
    6. Graveyard (it still seemed good despite freeze nerf)
    5. E-Wiz (seems to have a huge resurgence)
    4. Bandit (really took a big hit since 3M nerf)
    3. Log (Barbarian Barrel is just preventing it from being as amazing as before)
    2. Lumberjack (he’s so versatile overall)
    1. Miner (he’s just OP)

    • Legendaries are tough rn, because none are OP and none are super weak. Hopefully it gets shaken up so its easier to rank soon

  6. “Believe it or not, this is the ONLY time that sparky has not been ranked last in the legendary card rankings.”
Actually, she was #2 in your first ranking ever (remember when miner sucked?)

  7. My new rank

    16. Ram Rider (this is just a temporary spot, I really need to learn how to use her, she’s just new and I don’t know what place she should be in, last place for now, but it probably will change very soon)
    15. Night Witch (too situational)
    14. Mega Knight (not enough damage)
    13. Sparky (a lot better than before)
    12. Princess (she’s alright)
    11. Lava Hound (he’s alright)
    10. Inferno Dragon (too easy to counter right now, though still have lots of versatility)
    9. Royal Ghost
    8. Ice Wizard (caused by E-Wiz’s resurgence)
    7. Magic Archer (I’m just happy that he’s back)
    6. Lumberjack
    5. Graveyard (quite a shocker but to me, definitely deserves to be in the top 5 as long as Freeze is strong)
    4. Log (Barb Barrel is still too strong for Log)
    3. Miner
    2. E-Wiz (probably the biggest shocker for me)
    1. Bandit (She’s so good in most decks)

    Like

    • Agreed with the ram rider, it is still so soon to tell. I’m liking ice wiz a bit more than #8 right now, but bandit is actually #1 currently like you said. Personally, I feel as if mega knight is top tier, definitely not behind sparky

    11. Princess
    10. Lava Hound
    9. Sparky
    8. Graveyard
    7. Log
    6. Royal Ghost
    5. Bandit
    4. Mega Knight
    3. Miner
    2. Ice Wizard
    1. Magic Archer

    • TBH I’ve always liked the concept of the magic archer, but I haven’t ever used him in any of my main pushing decks. I use princess a lot though, which is why she is my favorite. Least favorite is probably lumberjack as well

      Like

  9. Based on the stats, Bandit’s obviously the best legendary by far.

On the other hand, after the buff for Sparky and Magic Archer, the worst legendary right now is actually the Mega Knight… but he’s definitely nowhere near bad, I’m sure he’s just being edged out a bit

    Like

    • Honestly, I feel differently. But that’s because there isn’t an AWFUL legendary right now and there isn’t one legendary far above the rest like there has been in the past

      Like

  10. With Freeze making some huge plays right now, I think it’s safe to say Graveyard is a top tier win condition even if it’s still easy to counter

    Like

  11. finally a new legendary ram rider is coming i want to see her in top because she is just OP counters almost all melee tanks and most important of all it counters lavaloon easily.

  12. My reaction when I gets any legendary: awesome!
My reaction when I gets Sparky: oh c’mon! Give me something else! At least it wasn’t Magic Archer……
My reaction when I gets the Magic Archer: I can’t believe that I waited to get a legendary……. only to get the worst card in the game……

    Like

  13. So Ice Wizard’s change didn’t really make any impact on him….. he’s still excellent on lots of decks. However, apparently E-Wiz seemed to be making a bit of a comeback……. time will tell if E-Wiz’s return will hurt Ice Wizard more

  14. Remember back in the day Sparky is considered as one of the best cards in the game? (That was way back when she was first introduced)

    Like

  15. We all thought the nerf to the Night Witch back in August 2017 was the most brutal nerf supercell has ever did, but Night Witch was never considered as one of the worst cards even after the nerf, she is actually still pretty good, just not as OP as she was before

On the other hand, Supercell brutally nerfed the Magic Archer, and he was completely killed, he isn’t just the worst legendary, he is arguably the worst CARD in the game, he’s so awful that not even Sparky (who’s without a doubt the 2nd worst legendary) came close to be the #1 worst legendary

    Like

    • It was crazy, FOUR things on the night witch were nerfed! The magic archer nerf was uncalled for, it was a fringe top half legendary card with no reason for a nerf when it is one of the most high skill cap cards in the game.

  16. My new list after the update

    15. Magic Archer
    14. Sparky
    13. Princess
    12. Night Witch
    11. Lava Hound
    10. Royal Ghost
    9. Mega Knight
    8. E-Wiz
    7. Lumberjack
    6. Inferno Dragon
    5. Ice Wizard
    4. Graveyard
    3. Miner
    2. Log
    1. Bandit

Arguably the hardest ranking list I’ve ever made! With the exception of Ice Wiz, Graveyard and the bottom 2, Everything is just so extremely close, all of their use and win rate are good, I do want to mention Lava Hound actually has the best win rate of all legendary cards (even higher than the top 3)

Top 3 can go anywhere! According to the stats, Log is the most popular legendary but its win rate is actually significantly lower than Bandit’s who has the 2nd highest win rate and 3rd best usage rate, with Miner being the 2nd most popular legendary and 3rd highest win rate of all legendary

    Like

  17. I’m just happy that Night Witch and Royal Ghost aren’t as dominant as they used to, Night Witch is completely broken before August 2017 and Royal Ghost has been OP for way too long, he’s definitely the best legendary before he got nerfed

    Like

  18. For some reasons, supercell didn’t mention anything in the patch notes, but they secretly increased Sparky’s range by 0.5 tiles……

    Like

  19. Magic Archer used to be my favourite legendary, but I can’t like him anymore because he’s just unusable right now 😭….

Ice Wizard’s my favourite legendary right now, but I’m not sure if the December balance change will make me change my mind, again……

  20. I love your lists man but I really do disagree with this specific one. Here’s why:
    1. Spark is way to low, although there are many sparky counters, sparky slo counters all ground troops besides e wiz and Zappies.
    2. E wiz is just WAY to low, he is easily a top five card because of his spawn in zap.
    3. Night witch is absolutely horrid no way she is #7, in my opinion she is easily the worst legendary card. She is not versatile at all, we are not even seeing her in golem decks any more! Night witch needs an hp and bat buff to be viable in the current meta.
    4. Lumberjack is okay, his hit speed needs a buff because he hits to slow or he doesn’t have enough health, but a mini Pekka kills him.
    5. Barb Barrel is way better than log, miner should be number 1. Log is going to be the worst 2 elixir card after the Budd to giant snowball because t=snowball and zap can target air, while barb barrel has a damage dealing barb come from it, log will be left in the dust because the only thing is does is push back a tiny bit.

I do agree with you other lists though.

    Like

    • Glad you enjoy the rankings Let me fill you in on the reasoning!

      1. People definitely find uses for sparky, but compared to the cards directly above sparky (graveyard, lava hound), they have so much more reliable use than sparky.
      2. E-wiz is, no doubt, a great support card. It is just that there are better cards to substitute in for him, plus the electro dragon made the zap effect a little less unique.
      3. Night witch is one of the main reasons that golem is at the top of the meta right now. She definitely is on the decline because of her versatility and only fitting in golem decks, but she is SO strong in golem decks.
      4. Don’t really understand, his hit speed is already the fastest in the game (I’m pretty sure)
      5. It is true that barbarian barrel has taken some of the log’s use, but the log was so far away in previous rankings that it still BARELY edges the miner. Since the rise of the barbarian barrel is still fairly new, the log hasn’t quite been impacted all the way yet. If these rankings were in December, most likely miner would have passed log.

      Like

      • First, sorry about the typos in my comment. Let me elaborate about lumberjack. He doesn’t have the fastest hit speed in the game, but he has one of the fastest for sure. Maybe I was wrong about a hit speed buff, but he doesn’t deal with tanks as well as mini Pekka, so something needs to be changed.

        Like

    • i dont agree lumberjack doesnt need to hit faster he already is one of the fastest hitters in the game and if his health went up hell be too overpowered. i think magic archer is the worst legendary card but none of them are bad. log is really useful and has long range so if someone has a princess or dart goblin hiding beside a tower you can kill them and it has a wider radius than barb barrel. snowball and zap also costs 4 elixir, which is twice as much as log. e-wiz is good but is easily countered because of low hp, similar to ice-wiz as well. sparky an be used to great effect especially in x3 elixir battles but are easily countered by ground troops; such as valk and mini pekka. even though the counter costs more elixir, you can use the mini pekka to push with other cards for support.

  21. I hope Miner will be nerfed a bit someday, he’s just way too strong right now, maybe make him dig slower so it’ll make him easier to deal with? And maybe reduce his crown tower damage by 5% to keep consistent with the spells? (Spells deals 35% damage to crown towers while Miner deals 40%)

    Like

    • I don’t really like the crown tower damage since he is a troop, but something to do with the deploy time could work. Maybe it shows exactly what tile the miner is appearing on, or just slower in general.

  22. I think if Sparky survives rocket, she will be a bit more viable, then we have to think of a solution to make her deal with stun cards better. After those changes, I think Sparky will no longer be the bottom 2

    Like

  23. HORRAY! Sparky is finally out of the very bottom!

But that’s nothing to do with her, I’m sure this is just due to the fact Magic Archer is so awful that there’s no choice but to put Sparky above him
