It is time for a new legendary card rankings for all the legendary cards in Clash Royale! We will be having a power ranking, 16-1, of the legendary cards in Clash Royale as of February 2019. As many of you know, I have done this ranking before, back in November, with 16 legendary cards. The top 5 cards then, in order, were log, miner, bandit, ice wizard, and lumberjack. Let’s see how much those rankings were shaken up over the past couple balance changes and updates!
You can view the old ranking here: https://clashfordummies.com/2018/11/30/clash-royale-legendary-card-rankings-november-2018/
How the Legendary Cards are Ranked
When ranking these cards we put a lot of thought and effort into what makes the best legendary card the best. We are considering a variety of different ways to rank which are order in importance as follows:
- Versatility
- Cost/Damage Ratio (is the card worth it?)
- Strength on defense and offense
So now that you know what we are judging on, lets go ahead and get into the rankings, starting with number 16!
Note: Text color indicates which way the card is trending in regard to the November rankings.
Legendary Card Rankings
#16- Magic Archer
Even with the card-killing nerf being somewhat reverted in the January balance changes, the magic archer is still *by far* the worst legendary card in Clash Royale. Even with the first attack being increased once again, the magic archer is still seeing dismal usage rates. Another buff is needed to bring the magic archer back to its original levels.
#15- Sparky
In the last legendary card rankings, there was a pretty big gap between sparky, the 14th card, and graveyard, the 13th card. The gap over the past few months has significantly narrowed, with sparky no longer being the complete joke it once was. With a few more minor tweaks to this card, it could actually become the staple to Clash Royale it was meant to be.
#14- Graveyard
It honestly feels completely insane putting the graveyard in the bottom 3 of all legendary cards, but it shows how great the legendary cards are across the board. While the graveyard has suffered a little bit with the nerf to the freeze, it is still a strong win condition that is viable at all stages of game. Hopefully a new secondary choice begins to rise with the graveyard.
#13- Ice Wizard
In the new meta of fireball bait, somehow, some way, the ice wizard has suffered. It is going to be our biggest faller, dropping 9 spots from #4. I think that the problem is that the ice wizard can now BE fireballed, which no longer makes it as effective. The original ice wizard, with the health to withstand a fireball was the elite version we no longer see.
#12- Night Witch
Overall, the night witch is a pretty strong card, except that she is only really played in conjunction with the golem. In order to be a complete card, it must escape this classification and expand its usage. With the popularity of the golem right now, the night witch is likewise prospering, but it could do so much better if it fit with other win conditions.
#11- Princess
With the princess being one of the favorite cards in Clash Royale, it pains me a bit to see her locked into this #11 spot. Princess is a great card, but more players prefer having a more immediate solution to downing swarm units. Still though, the princess has the distinction of being the only troop that cannot be reached by a tower!
#10- Royal Ghost
I think the royal ghost is currently in the best position he has ever seen in Clash Royale. That doesn’t mean that he is OP, just that he is balanced as well as he has ever been before. The royal ghost can provide you with a solid option for 3 elixir, without having to play against a card that can completely dominate a lane.
#9- Lumberjack
Sort of like the royal ghost, I feel like this meta is really healthy for the lumberjack. It isn’t a completely OP card, but instead is a viable card that can be used in a number of situations. Currently, the lumberjack is very popular in golem and lava hound decks, which are two of the most popular decks currently being played.
#8- Inferno Dragon
As long as PEKKA and golem continue to be popular cards, the inferno dragon will stay a defensive weapon. No card in the game, with the exception of the inferno tower, can inflict so much damage in such a short period of time. Having the inferno dragon at the top of the meta is much better than having a ID hanging out in the basement with sparky and magic archer.
#7- Ram Rider
The newest card in Clash Royale, once called completely useless, has actually found a decent spot in the meta for now. Personally, I still feel like the ram rider is pretty weak, but a lot of players are having success with her. The stun ability from the rider means she can actually be used on defense for a few seconds, before being converted into the front of an offensive push.
#6- Mega Knight
Somehow, even with the popularity of the PEKKA, the mega knight continues to be a decent tank. I think the mega knight has really started to distance itself from the PEKKA in capability, proving itself as its own card instead of an alternative to the PEKKA. Hopefully in the coming months we will continue to see strong gameplay from the MK.
#5- Electro Wizard
I’m really excited to see the electro-wizard back into the top 5, especially after a brief decline in the last rankings. With the fireball bait meta, the e-wiz fits in perfectly, offering resets to all inferno units. The zap upon deployment is really a great weapon too as you can shut down an entire minion horde using the electro-wizard.
#4- Lava Hound
Never would I have thought I’d see the day where the lava hound cracks the top 5 of these rankings. For months now, the lava hound has been in the basement of the legendary card rankings, never even cracking the top 10. Now, with the meta favoring it big time, the lava hound is one of the best win conditions in Clash Royale!
#3- Log
The last time the log was not ranked #1 in our legendary card rankings? In the INITIAL rankings, back in July of 2017. A reign of 1 1/2 years has come to an end, mostly due to the insane popularity of the barbarian barrel and the strength of other legendary cards. The log is still an amazing card and one of the best spells in the game though.
#2- Miner
The miner continues to be one of the legendary cards, cementing his #2 ranking for the 3rd month in a row. The miner is ideal as a secondary win condition and tank. This guy can slowly chip down your towers, giving much needed damage if you only have a few hundred hit points left on the tower. Don’t expect the miner to fall off soon.
#1- Bandit
It feels weird to say, but our #1 legendary card is going to be the bandit. Right now, the bandit has the 3rd highest usage rate out of all cards, making her super powerful in the current meta. The dash strength and the need to counter her gives this three elixir card the edge over many more expensive cards, putting her at the top spot for legendary cards.
So that is going to wrap it up for our legendary card rankings for February of 2019! Stay tuned soon to see how all of our rankings change in a couple months. Thanks for reading and comment below what you think of the rankings!

Unless a buff is coming up, I think Magic Archer will replace Sparky’s old spot as always being either dead last, or 2nd worst in the legendary rankings, especially due to the fact that Sparky seen the most unexpected improvements we’ve ever seen: her use and win rate shows that she’s is definitely a viable pick and not bottom 2.
Personally, I’d say Sparky’s bottom 5 at worst right now, but it can be argued, considering there aren’t really any bad legendary cards apart from Magic Archer, she could be even higher, or a bit lower, who knows?

Believe it or not, the past 7 days, the usage rate of Ice Wizard, Sparky, Lava Hound, Night Witch and Meta Knight are all tied! All Having 6% usage rate, which is fairly average, it’s just that the win rate are slightly different, believe it or not, out of the 5 I mentioned, Sparky actually have the HIGHEST win rate with 53%, but Lava Hound came close with 50%

Because of the fact that the Magic Archer buff failed me again, Meta Knight is now my favourite legendary!
(I called him META Knight on purpose because of how great he is, not to be confused with Meta Knight from Kirby)

Hahaha, I really miss the days of the OP mega knight when everyone called him meta knight

Know anything about Meta Knight from Super Smash Bros Brawl? Mega Knight when first released is basically as broken as Brawl Meta Knight!
Ok maybe not but it was really close

I know who he is, but not too much in terms of meta

Alright buddy, I said it before and I’ll say it again, I love these lists. I get excited to see them whenever you post them. But, I know you are entitled to your opinion, this list i believe is wrong for a good amount of cards, respectfully. Let’s start with magic archer, his use and win rates have gone up a lot since the buff, to a whopping 57% wr on ladder, not so much in gc’s though. Sparky is very much underrated and in my opinion is easily top 7. Sparky has the ability to make positive elixir trades almost every time she is used, she is fantastic defensive option and a great offensive option. Now she has a range of 5 tiles and locks onto something faster making her do do much damage quicker. We are talking about over 1100 area damage! She just shuts down pushes with ease and she just can’t be ranked second last. And lava hound really shouldn’t be at 4th place, we all know a buff is needed. I guess those are my only concerns and still keep up the great work, don’t take this as any hate because I still love reading your lists 🙂

Glad you enjoyed Nicholas! I don’t use ladder win rates because they are skewed towards weaker players and can give you bad images of cards. I also still think sparky is pretty weak, especially with the popularity of e-wiz and e-dragon. Finally, the lava hound has on the rise big time, clocking in at the top half usage of all cards as a WIN CONDITION. Glad to hear your opinions too though!

Does Bandit need a nerf?

That’s honestly a tough question, since I don’t feel like she is OP, but she is obviously the best legendary card. I think a slight damage nerf would be nice

Honestly, I don’t like all 4 elixir legendary cards, mostly due to how annoying they are, but I hate Night Witch the most.

I don’t dislike the night witch, but I dont really like the lumberjack

Night Witch could use some tweaks to make her less annoying in Golem decks but more viable in other decks

I’m so sad to see Magic Archer at last place because it’s my favourite legendary, but seriously, I think Magic Archer is still too weak, his stats are too underwhelming to make him effective
