Builder’s base is here in from the Clash of Clans May update and you will need to know how to start your new builder’s base as well as defend the home village. Here’s an introduction to builder’s base as well as some strategy on how to attack within builder’s base.
So here’s a video I made on the new Clash of Clans builder’s base. It explains exactly what everything is, as well as some strategy behind attacking.
In general, most of the new village is almost exactly the same as the home village. You still attack, upgrade, and build, only you attack differently, follow different upgrade patterns, and build new buildings. Let’s go through how each of these are different within the new builder’s base!
Attacking in Builder’s Base
Attacking within builder’s base is the EXACT same but with two huge twists. You still have to train up troops in barracks while those troops go to army camps. You still have to hit the attack button to find a match. You still place down troops on your opponent’s base in order to try and gain three stars. Now that we have the constants out of the way, let’s talk a bit about the twists!
Twist #1: The first twist concerns the army camps. While you still have army camps to hold troops, these army camps can only hold one type of troop! You can switch it around from raging barbarians to sneaky archers, etc. but you can’t mix and match troops within your army camps… its all or nothing!
Twist #2: Remember the versus battles that were leaked a few days ago? That is the BIG second twist! In versus battles, whoever does more damage to the opponent’s village wins the battle. So if you two star a base, and they one star you, you will win the loot in that battle. However, if you 99% one star, while your opponent 50% two stars, your opponent will win the loot.
The only way to get loot in builder’s base is by winning battles. There is no gold or elixir to rob in this new version. However, there is a cap on how much loot you can get a day.
Upgrading in Builder’s Base
Upgrading in builder’s base isn’t as astronomically different as attacking in builder’s base but there are a few big changes. First off, you only have one builder, the Master Builder, who runs things around builder’s base. Of course, he still suggests upgrades to you, just like in your home village!
The next huge upgrading difference and my personal favorite part of the new builder’s base world is that you HAVE to max out your builder’s hall before you can upgrade it to the next level. Rushing has always been a problem in Clash of Clans and this should put a stop to it in builder’s base.
The last massive upgrading feature that is different in builder’s base is that of upgrading troops. Within your home village, most troops will max out around level 7 or level 5. In builder’s base, there are 10 upgrade levels for each troops, working kind of like clan perks. For each upgrade, it will improve something within the unit. For example, here are the upgrade benefit for raging barbarians:
- Level 2: Unlocks special ability: Rage!
- Level 3: Increases DPS and HP
- Level 4: Increases number of units per army camp
- Level 5: Increases DPS and HP
- Level 6: Increases number of units per army camp
- Level 7: Increases DPS and HP
- Level 8: Improves the Rage ability
- Level 9: Increases DPS and HP
- Level 10: Increases number of units per army camp
Really interesting seeing these different upgrading traits within builder’s base but I think they are really sweet to see in game. I personally really like the new troop upgrading!
Building in Builder’s Base
Well, the most obvious change in builder’s base for building is DIFFERENT troops, buildings, and defenses! There is one new troops, with variations on other troops on the nine other ones. As for buildings, there are a bunch of new icons like the gem mine and clock tower that give special abilities to your village! Lastly, for defenses, there are five new defenses (double cannon, guard post, firecrackers, crusher, and multi mortar), as well as a several new traps to try out!
For me, the weirdest new part of the new builder’s base is the wall sections. When building walls, you can’t place individual walls, but instead you have to place a section of the wall. This makes base building a lot more complicated!
This just about sums up an introduction to the new builder’s base in Clash of Clans for the May 2017 update! This update is so much fun and like I’ve said before I am so excited to have some fresh gameplay within Clash of Clans…. be ready for a lot more builder’s base articles over the next few weeks. Thanks for reading and comment down below what you think of this new ship update from Clash of Clans!
