Clash Royale January Update: Wall Breakers and Spooky Town

The sneak peeks for the January 2019 update are finally here in Clash Royale, featuring a brand new card (wall breakers) and a brand new arena (Spooky Town). This update has a whole bunch of other features too that should make Clash Royale a much better game. Here’s everything we know about the January 2019 update in Clash Royale!

Clash Royale January 2019 Update

Trade Token Improvements

One of the biggest complaints from last update was how difficult it was to trade cards now. In this update, Clash Royale is completely fixing this, making it so that you can choose 4 cards you are willing to give away.

Of course, the player you are trading with gets to choose one of those and you get the other three back. This will make trading a lot easier since there are a whole bunch of options.

Spooky Town Arena

Clash Royale will also be coming out with a brand new arena, Spooky Town in the January update. Spooky Town will be for players at 3,600-3,999 trophies and seems to have a graveyard type look to it.

Of course, since it is at 3,600 trophies, the whole arena system is getting completely revamped. Here are the new trophy counts for every arena in Clash Royale.

  • Goblin Stadium: 0+
  • Bone Pit: 300+
  • Barbarian Bowl: 600+
  • PEKKA’s Playhouse: 1,000+
  • Spell Valley: 1,300+
  • Builder’s Workshop: 1,600+
  • Royal Arena: 2,000+
  • Frozen Peak: 2,300+
  • Jungle Arena: 2,600+
  • Hog Mountain: 3,000+
  • Electro Valley: 3,300+
  • Spooky Town: 3,600+
  • Legendary Arena: 4,000+

And finally, with the addition of Spooky Town, some arena card unlocks are going to be shuffled, just so that they can get some cards unlocked in Spooky Town.

New Gamemode

There are going to be two new game modes added in this update, starting with this one, the royal hog gamemode. The Chinese New Year is upon us and it is the year of the pig. This makes Clash Royale implement the royal hog gamemode in order to celebrate.

Basically, royal hogs will spawn on both your side and your opponent’s side every 12 seconds, appearing behind one of the arena towers.

This will provide a constant barrage of damage that you need to counter. There’s one more twist to this mode too; this new gamemode will be a ramp-up type game, with elixir increasing and the number of royal hogs spawning with it.

Mini Collection Mode

The other new gamemode is going to be mini collection mode, which basically simulates war day. You will get 40 cards and you will have to build the very best deck out of those cards in order to win.

Wall Breakers

The very last addition to the January 2019 update is the most important as well! The wall breakers are going to be the newest card in Clash Royale, slotting in as a 3 elixir epic card.

Basically, when you play the wall breakers it will spawn 2 wall breakers, which head straight towards the nearest building. When it reaches the building, it will do a ton of damage and explode. Since there are two of them, you’ll be looking at almost 1000 HP in damage if both connect.
