Support cards are so important in Clash Royale, making your deck great if you bring the right cards. Support cards are the ones that are able to support your pushes, stay behind tanks, and play defense well! Here are the top 10 support cards in Clash Royale, ranked on versatility and value for elixir!

#10- Bats

Bats used to be pretty weak after they received a nerf before even coming out, but when they were buffed a few weeks ago, bats emerged into the meta as a very strong support card, as well as a defensive card. Because they are so cheap and an air troop, they can be placed in ANY deck for instant success, pairing well with every win condition from the bandit to the golem. They are great at countering most ground units, but are vulnerable to splash, which is why they come in at the #10 spot!

#9- Night Witch

As recently as a month ago, the night witch would have appeared as number 1 on this list without a doubt. That being said, with the massive nerf applied to her in the last balance changes, it is a miracle that the NW still appears on this list. She is very effective against air and ground due to the bats she spawns. Also, since she does ground damage, she can be used to take out any card used to defend against your push, covering both the skies and the earth.

#8- Mega Minion

Coming in at number 8 is the mega minion! The mega minion used to be the premier support card, pairing well with both the golem and giant. Currently, you don’t see the mega minion as much as you used to, but it is still lurking out there as one of the top support units. Being one of the few air support cards that can’t be destroyed by a fireball, the mega minion is able to tank well, taking out splash cards like the wizard and executioner to make it a well versed flying support card.

#7- Musketeer

Being one of the first support cards you unlock in Clash Royale, you wouldn’t think the musketeer would last at high levels…. however all the way through Legendary Arena, the musketeer acts as one of the strongest shooting cards in the game! Personally, I love the musketeer, mostly because she is so versatile. The musketeer can be played against literally ANY CARD and perform well! Pair her with any deck type and she will definitely carry her weight, fitting in anywhere.

#6- Minions

In my eyes, the minions are a cut above bats from a support card standpoint. Minions will do more damage and have more health than bats, often surviving longer due to their ability to survive zap. Minions can also do a ton of damage if they are able to lock onto the tower, usually taking it out. Like bats, minions are extremely vulnerable to wizard and executioner, but for most other defensive cards, the minions will be able to get the job done by taking it out.

#5- Wizard

A few months back, the wizard was widely seen as one of the most underused support cards in Clash Royale. Now, though, after a range increase, the wizard is back on the top of the meta! The reason why the wizard is so good is because it can shut down virtually all spam units, such as minion horde and skeleton army, that are played against your push. It also can damage air and ground troops, making it prime as a support card to take out as many defending troops as possible.

#4- Ice Wizard

One of the first legendaries ever introduced in Clash Royale, the ice wizard was instantly a success, but fell off the meta slowly as more complete and valuable cards were added. However, with the last round of balance changes, the ice wizard is BACK, coming in at the number 4 spot in our rankings. The main reason why the ice wizard is so good at support is his slowing aspect, which makes the defending troops attack much slower, giving you time to get a few more hits on the tower with your tank.

#3- Ice Spirit

While the ice spirit isn’t the most OP support card, the reason why it is ranked number 3 is because of its versatility and its cheapness! The ice spirit costs only 1 elixir, making it able to be combined with any deck archetype and fit in nicely. For only 1 elixir, you get a two second freeze on whatever troops/towers the ice spirit is able to hit, enabling your hog to get through barbarians or your golem to take out an inferno tower. The value you get for 1 elixir out of the ice spirit is unparalleled in Clash Royale.

#2- Executioner

Our runner up in the support card rankings is going to be the executioner! The executioner is by far one of the best cards in Clash Royale, let alone just support cards. He costs 5 elixir, but is definitely worth it, being able to kill any troop with less health than a wizard with ease. The double axe pass makes him so valuable as a support card since he can kill minions/minion horde with one throw. The executioner can also shut down big groups of defensive cards with a tornado added into the mix.

#1- Electro-Wizard

And finally, without much surprise probably, our number 1 support card in Clash Royale is going to be the electro-wizard! There is simply no card like the e-wiz in Clash Royale, being able to reset the inferno tower, inferno dragon, and sparky, as well as do significant damage to any troop. Landing with a big zap, the EW is easily debatable for the best legendary in Clash Royale. He can fit well in any deck, whether it be fast or slow, making him versatile, yet also being good enough to depend upon as a card.
