Best Cards to Draft for Touchdown Mode in Clash Royale

Touchdown mode is here from the Clash Royale October update and there is a clear card ranking for the best cards to draft. I’ll run through which cards you should draft in touchdown in order to win! Hog rider, battle ram, and dart goblin are among the best cards for touchdown mode, but here are the top 10 (in no particular order) cards to draft for winning touchdown mode!

Best Cards to Draft Touchdown Mode Clash Royale

Best Cards for Touchdown Mode

Hog Rider

Hog Rider Clash Royale

Despite the hog apparently being banned from touchdown mode, he made it through the cut and is easily the best card to have in the newest game mode. The hog’s primary attribute is his speed, which your opponents cannot stop unless they over counter or have a building. Most of the time when playing hog, you can get a touchdown within 30 seconds.

Battle Ram

Battle Ram Clash Royale

The battle ram is so similar to the hog which is why it is also one of the best cards for touchdown mode. The speed of the battle ram, plus its ability to not target troops, allows it to make a beeline for the end zone. It is a little bit easier to stop than the hog, but you can still easily rack up the touchdown by rushing with the battle ram!

Golem

Golem Clash Royale

Since golem is the complete opposite of the hog and battle ram, it is a little strange to see it in this list. However, there are multiple strategies to help you win touchdown mode. Golem is GREAT, because it requires so much defense in order to stop it from reaching the endzone. Just think, if this was 1v1 or 2v2, you are basically trying to stop a GOLEM from doing any damage on your tower.

Lava Hound

Clash Royale Legendary Card Lava Hound

For the same reasons as the golem, the lava hound is also one of the cards you should draft in touchdown mode for Clash Royale. Lava hound does have a bit of an advantage over the golem for two reasons though. First off, it can only be killed by air targeting troops which makes it harder to beat. Second, if your opponents manage to stop the LH at the line, the burst of lava pups will allow you to score.

Tombstone

Tombstone Clash Royale

Remember, in touchdown mode, every single troop has to be stopped from reaching the endzone. Therefore, what better card is there than the tombstone, where each skeleton has to be stopped individually. The tombstone provides constant pressure and can make your opponents have to constantly guard a lane instead of focusing on pushing.

Goblin Hut

Goblin Hut Clash Royale

In touchdown mode, I see the goblin hut as a bit tankier and stronger tombstone. Instead of spawning skeletons, which can be killed by literally anything, the goblin hut spawns spear gobs, which can be used on defense against the lava hound and balloon. Also, each spear goblin has to be countered or else it will be a touchdown.

Witch

Witch Clash Royale

The witch is sort of like a walking, moving tombstone. You can’t just counter the witch in touchdown mode, you have to counter every one of her skeletons as well. Even if the witch is still at the 50 yard line, you have to address her now or else her skeletons will score. She is also great at defeated large groups of troops, shutting down giant very well.

Dart Goblin

Dart Goblin Clash Royale

This is an example of a card being great in touchdown mode that isn’t too good in 1v1. The dart goblin is at the top of touchdown mode, mostly because his long range allows him to counter multiple different lanes without being killed. He can snipe a balloon down from the middle of the map and then turn to a wizard on the complete opposite side of the arena from the balloon.

Lumberjack

Clash Royale Legendary Card Lumberjack

The big plus to using the lumberjack in touchdown mode, as with 1v1 and 2v2, is giving a rage to large groups of troops. One of the strategies in touchdown mode is to build up a ton of troops together, which is where the lumberjack comes in. When you play the lumberjack in front, he will rage the entire group, allowing you to break through the defense.

Executioner

Executioner Clash Royale

Last but certainly not least, we have the executioner. In touchdown mode, where you can play troops in many different lanes, its great to have the executioner to police the lanes and not let a big buildup take place. He is able to kill the pesky dart goblin, as well as take out the popular lava hounds which are often backed by some sort of goblin.

So that is going to wrap it up for our top 10 cards to draft for touchdown mode in Clash Royale! These 10 cards are SO good in touchdown mode, even if they aren’t good in 1v1 or 2v2. Always take these cards if you have the choice to when drafting in touchdown mode. Thanks for reading and comment below what you think the best card for touchdown mode is!

    • True, but, like the elite barbarians, I don’t mind it as much in touchdown mode. The reason I hate EBs and furnace in 1v1 is that you have to focus so much attention on them, but in touchdown, they aren’t as powerful from having no skill. You actually do need skill to win with EBs and furnace in touchdown mode!
