2017 is winding down for both Clash of Clans and Clash Royale, with some fabulous updates for both games. That means it is that time of year again to do our yearly predictions of what new updates we will see in both Supercell games throughout 2018. We will be guessing what new updates and features CoC and CR will have in the 2018 year, recapping what we got correct at the end of 2017.
2017 Update Predictions
Last year, we made 10 predictions early in 2017 on what was going to be coming in Clash of Clans and Clash Royale. You can view that article HERE.
In our predictions, we ended up getting 6/10 of our update predictions correct, with 4 coming from Clash of Clans and 2 coming in Clash Royale! Here are the predictions that we got right for 2017:
- Shipwreck: The shipwreck was added, leading to the Builder Base
- Air Sweeper Level 7 + Air Defense Level 9: Level 7 AS added in October and level 9 AD added in March
- New Game Mode: Builder Base was released for Clash of Clans in May
- Online Indicator: CoC followed CR and now shows how many people are online
- More CoC Cards: The heal spell was added into Clash Royale
- New Chests: Clash Royale added 3 new chests in the December 2017 update
Here’s what we were incorrect about in our update predictions in Clash of Clans and Clash Royale!
- Permanent Ice Wizard: The ice wizard made a return this winter, but still isn’t permanent
- Arena at 4K Trophies: Legendary Arena was added at 3,800 trophies, not 4k
- 90 Cards: There is currently 78 cards in CR, still a ways off from 90
- Tournament Revamp: Clash Royale didn’t fix tournaments, but did add special events
All of these predictions are now in the past though, so it is time to look ahead to 2018 and think about what updates we are going to see in the coming year for both Clash Royale and Clash of Clans! Here are 5 predictions about Clash Royale and 5 predictions about Clash of Clans for the coming updates in 2018.
Clash Royale New 2018 Updates
New Hero Rarity
A new hero rarity has been leaked in Clash Royale a month or so ago, which means that chances are we will see this new rarity in 2018. It is assumed that the heroes will include the barbarian king, archer queen, grand warden, and master builder from Clash of Clans. If more heroes are added in Clash of Clans, the Clash Royale rarity might copy them.

A New Gamemode
Touchdown mode and 2v2 were added to Clash Royale in 2017, but only 2v2 has really caught on in Clash Royale. The game will continue to have new gamemodes added, whether they are permanent like 2v2, or VERY temporary like touchdown remains to be seen. Whatever it ends up being, expect to see at least one new way to play Clash Royale added in 2018.
Arenas for Leagues
In 2017, leagues were added into Clash Royale, starting at challenger and then moving up to master and eventually champion. Without many more trophy ranges to add in new arenas, I think that Clash Royale will give each of these leagues its own arena. This way, we will see some visual separation between those at 5,500 and 3,800.
Read more about when leagues were introduced HERE.
An Easier Way to Get Gold
Currently, a shortage of gold is the biggest problem in Clash Royale. Cards are much too expensive to upgrade at high levels, which makes it tough to advance if you are a free to play player. Whether it be a “gold chest” or some other way to get gold, Clash Royale will address this gold shortage.
Unique Tower Skins
Many, many times has tower skins been leaked in Clash Royale, but we have yet to actually see skins in the game. The closest alternative is the gold and gem rush towers, which take the theme of their event into the tower. However, in 2018, I think that we will see more customization options to your arena and crown towers, with seasonal skins almost guaranteed in the new year.

Clash of Clans New 2018 Updates
A Change to Ladder Play
In the recent “Clash Talk” episodes, the Clash of Clans developer team has acknowledged that multiplayer battles on the home village is not where they want it to be, especially in high level gameplay. In 2018, the Clash of Clans devs will fix this problem, either by changing the matchmaking or by fixing clouds past 5,000 trophies.

Builder Hall 8
This prediction is pretty obvious, as Builder Hall 8 is already added into the game, but has yet to be released. Builder Hall 7 was updated in September, which means we should probably see BH8 in April or May of 2018. With Builder Hall 8, the Super PEKKA and Mega Tesla will be able to be unlocked. For all you maxed out BH7s, you don’t have much longer to wait!

Town Hall 12
Town Hall 11 has been released for almost 2 1/2 years, which means a new Town Hall has got to be in the works in Clash of Clans. A lot of hints have been dropped about Town Hall 12 recently, which makes me believe that we should be seeing TH12 before the end of the year. If Town Hall 12 is added into Clash of Clans, my guess is that it will come in a late update, probably in the Halloween or Christmas update.
An Expansion of Clan Games/Magic Items
Clan games and magic items were just added in Clash of Clans in the December 2017 update, but I think that the whole scope of them seemed a bit small. In 2018, Clash of Clans will expand clan games to mean more for the clan, while adding in a few new magic items into the game.

Brawl Stars Goes Global
Not really having to do with Clash of Clans, but I think that Brawl Stars will be the 5th Supercell game. Despite myself predicting that Brawl Stars would go global in July, Brawl Stars simply has to become worldwide and on Android in 2018. After their last update, Brawl Stars is in a great place to introduce to everyone. My revised release date is sometime in February or March.
So that is all of my predictions for the 2018 year for the Supercell games. If you have anything you would like to see, leave a comment down below! Thanks a ton for reading and come back soon for more Clash of Clans and Clash Royale content!

Quite disagree about town hall 12.
Town Hall 11 is unperfect yet in my opinion, Th 11 just include new hero, but no new troop, dark troop, spell, and dark spell. Th11 still need improvent i think,,,
I agree, I think that they still need to work on TH11 a little bit more
Im great full to the information thanks for the information.
