Clash Royale Balance Changes Update (June 4th, 2018)


The monthly balance changes are finally coming into play in Clash Royale, with the first round of balance changes coming on June 4th, 2018. These balance changes will nerf ice golem and give huge buffs to the wizard and valkyrie. Here’s all the nerfs and buffs for the June Clash Royale balancing update!

As always, nerfs will be listed in red, while buffs are in blue.

  • Spear Goblins: Damage +34%, Hit Speed slower 1.2sec -> 1.7sec, first attack slower
  • Goblin Hut: Lifetime shorter 60sec -> 50sec
  • Mega Knight: Jump/Spawn Damage +23%, Area Damage -7.5%
  • Barbarians: Hit Speed faster 1.5sec -> 1.4sec
  • Battle Ram: Can be knocked back (by Barbarian Barrel, The Log, etc.)
  • Royal Ghost: Invisibility delay increased 1.2sec -> 1.6sec
  • Wizard: Area Damage +2%, Area Damage radius +25%
  • Valkyrie: Hitpoints +7%, first attack faster
  • Ice Golem: Hitpoints -5%

Balance Changes Nerfs

The biggest nerf in this round of balance changes is definitely to the currently too powerful ice golem. An HP decrease, but not a death damage decrease, should put him in the right spot. The goblin hut also got a big nerf, decreasing its lifetime by 10 seconds, which means  two less spear goblins will be allowed out. The royal ghost and battle ram both got small nerfs with the royal ghost getting an invisibility delay (meaning it can’t survive on little health) and the battle ram being able to be knocked back.

Balance Changes Buffs

I have got to be honest, I’m extremely concerned about the wizard buff. There was absolutely no reason the wizard needed a buff and he received a BIG one, having damage and radius increased. The valkyrie, another splash unit, also is getting buffed heavily, with an HP and first attack buff. Lastly, we see barbarians finally getting some love with a small hit speed increase.

Balance Changes Reworks

Despite all of these changes, the two most interesting balances are to the spear goblins and mega knight. Both, especially spear goblins, got an extreme rework. For the spear goblins, they will be doing more damage per spear, but throw those spear a lot slower. Should be interesting to see where this takes them. The mega knight also got a damage increase, but only when he jumps or spawns. With the regular damage increase, this clearly is to make players try to get him to jump.

I’m happy to see the first round of these monthly balance changes, even if I don’t quite agree with them all. I can’t wait to see what all of these changes end up doing to the Clash Royale meta. Thanks for reading and comment below what you think about the June balance changes in CR!

  2. Remember why skeleton army is so useless before their massive buff? Spear goblins can 1 shot them. Oh joy, now these goblins that throws spears can instantly kill them once again…….

    • I don’t really think either needed a nerf. To be honest though, the battle ram definitely needed to be able to be knocked back though.

      • Yeah, it’s quite unlogical if it doesn’t get knocked back considering Barbarians or even Elite Barbarians get knocked back

  3. In the rare card ranking, you said the April 2018 update was the nail of the coffin for the Goblin Hut, you’re wrong….. this is the real nail of the coffin for the hut
